Project Type: High-End Residential Interior Decorating
Location: Kensington, London, SW3
Client:Private Homeowner
Duration: 2 Weeks
Date: September 2026
Scope of Work:
We completed a detailed interior decorating project across a high-end residential property in Kensington. The scope included walls, ceilings, period-style cornices, skirting boards, architraves, panelled doors and fitted wardrobes/joinery.
We carried out extensive preparation, including repairing cracks, holes and open joints, filling, sanding and priming repaired areas before applying the specified paint systems. Full floor protection was installed using Q1 Floor ProBoard to protect the property’s existing herringbone flooring throughout the works.
The project was finished using a carefully selected range of Farrow & Ball and Dulux Trade paints, with particular attention given to sharp architectural lines, consistent coverage and a controlled, brush-led finish across the property’s walls, mouldings, woodwork and fitted joinery.
The preparation was just as important as the painting itself on this Kensington project. We started by protecting the existing herringbone flooring with Q1 Floor ProBoard before any work began. We then repaired cracks, holes and open joints, filling and sanding the affected areas before priming them ready for painting.
The property’s cornices, skirting, architraves and panelled doors needed particular care. We focused on keeping the lines sharp and the original detail clear, while making sure the finish was even across every surface. The fitted wardrobes and joinery were also carefully prepared and painted, with extra attention needed across the large flat surfaces.
We used a selection of Farrow & Ball finishes throughout, alongside Dulux Trade Brilliant White Matt on selected ceilings. Where rollers were used, we tipped the paint off by brush to achieve the controlled, brush-led finish specified for the project.
Once the protection was removed, the difference was clear. The repairs blended into the surrounding surfaces, the architectural details remained crisp and the same consistent finish carried throughout the walls, woodwork, doors and joinery.
For us, a good decorating job comes down to doing the basics properly — protecting the property, preparing the surfaces and taking care with the details.
The following paints and colours were specified across the project. Different finishes were used to suit walls, ceilings and woodwork:
Preparation products, primers and undercoats were selected as required for the surface and specified finish.
